The McAdams Ranch is located in southwest Foard County at the end of FM 654. This ranch has been in the McAdams family since the 1800’s and is loaded with history. JJ McAdams was a well known rancher and quite a character according to history. The Indians would camp on the McAdams Ranch to trade goods for beef and other things they needed. The ranch in those days was a premiere cattle ranch in north Texas and home to quality cow horses. The McAdams Ranch was established in some of the finest country in Foard County with an abundance of water with springs that run year round. The creeks and draws are some of the most fertile soil in Foard County and grow excellent grass.

The ranch is also home to some of the finest hunting in northwest Texas. The creeks, springs and excellent cover offer some of the finest habitat for all of the wildlife native to this area of northwest Texas. This is some of the finest whitetail hunting in Texas with 160-180 B&C native deer not uncommon on this ranch. The ranch has only been bow hunted the past few years with a strict management plan in place. There are several creeks and draws that are lined with hardwood trees for turkey roost. The ranch has some cattle at this time but still offers an abundance of grass and cover for the quail that are making a come back to this area of Texas.

There is a large spring on the east side of the ranch that has been dammed up by beavers that offers great habitat for ducks and geese. There is not many areas of northwest Texas that has the water like the McAdams Ranch does. One of the greatest assets of the property is Boiling Springs and Good Creek. The Springs run year round and provide water to Good Creek. Boiling Springs offers great habitat for ducks and geese. Good Creek is lined with hardwoods and offers great cover for the wildlife and beauty to the ranch. Abundance of water is unique to this part of northwest Texas. It is easy to see why the Indians used this area to camp. The ranch has large neighbors on all sides one of which is Comanche Springs Astronomy Campus. The campus does not allow any hunting on their property so this provides a sanctuary for the McAdams Ranch and insures that there is minimal hunting pressure and a chance to grow trophy deer. This is one of the finest hunting ranches to come on the market in a long time. It has everything a hunter would want in a hunting ranch.

There is also a 3 Bedroom, 2.5 Bath main ranch home, a ranch manager’s home, barns, corrals and great fencing in place. Once you see this ranch it is easy to see why Mr. McAdams, his heirs and the Indians were very fond of this area. This is one of the finest ranches to come on the market in my opinion. If you are looking for a great hunting and cattle ranch that is loaded with history then please don’t miss this premiere piece of northwest Texas!! First time on the market!!
